High Prairie Gospel Sing returns Aug. 29
The Community Gospel Sing in High Prairie returns after two years.
Last held in September 2019, the event will be resurrected Aug. 29 at the Nazarene Church of High Prairie from 6-8 p.m.
“COVID-19 restrictions have ended and it’s about time churches get together as a church community,” says Pastor Brian Gilroy, who organizes the event and initiated the program in 2014.

Young ball players sharpen skills at camp
A little wet weather didn’t dampen the spirits of young ball players at a fastball and baseball camp Aug. 7-8 in High Prairie.
Sarah Opheim, of Sucker Creek, instructed fastball to girls and her husband Nolan Opheim taught baseball skills to the boys at Jaycee Park.
“The camp was a lot of fun while growing the game,” says Sarah Opheim, who plays college fastball for the McCook Indians at McCook Community College in McCook, Nebraska as a pitcher, outfielder and designated hitter.

Pleasantview presentation postponed
A presentation to show proposed plans to expand Pleasantview Lodge in High Prairie has been postponed to March 10 from March 2.
Design plans and drawings to add 20 units to the seniors lodge will be presented in an online Zoom information session at 7 p.m.

Wings on thin ice to resume season
If the hockey season for the High Prairie Red Wings is allowed to resume in the next few weeks, plans to play at home could be on thin ice.
The Red Wings may have to leave town if COVID-19 restrictions are eased to allow the team to resume action in the West Division of the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League.
